Panel on conflict minerals at University of Waterloo

Dr. Steven Young of UW’s School of Environment, Enterprise and Development spoke on Thursday November 7 on a panel moderated by Peace and Conflict Studies Professor Nathan Funk, with Sustainability Management M.E.S. candidate Chris Burke and NDP MP Paul Dewar.

MP Dewar has proposed a piece of legislation called “The Conflict Minerals Act,” Bill C-486, to require corporations to buy only conflict-free materials.

The event was organised by Just Minerals KW with support from UW Engineers without Borders, WPIRG, STAND, Conflict-Free UW, and Kitchener-Centre NDP. More info on the UW conflict free campaign at the CFUW facebook page.
